Meet our 2014-2015 SCHSRA Queen
As a senior at Blue Ridge High School, I compete in breakaway roping, barrel racing, pole bending, girls cutting and team roping. My wonderful parents, Rock and Jenny Hunter, support me in all my rodeo endeavors. I am taking classes at North Greenville University as a dual enrollment student. At North Greenville, I study animal science and plan on becoming a large animal veterinarian in the future. I have been a member of South Carolina High School Rodeo Association since sixth grade and haven’t missed a single rodeo. I placed in the top twenty in Rock Springs, Wyoming in the queen’s contest at the NHSFR. My rodeo life began early and since then, I have practiced, succeeded, failed, got better, fallen off, but no matter what happens in the rodeo pen I always get back on! South Carolina High School Rodeo Association transformed me into the person I am today and pushes me to become a better rider. I am forever thankful for the volunteers and sponsors that make the rodeo life possible.
Some of my rodeo accomplishments include: 2012-2013 Reserve Pole Bending Champion, 2013-2014 Reserve Girls Cutting Champion, 2013 Cinch Team Caption, 2013 South Carolina 4-H Speed Event Champion, and Michael Hare Memorial Roping Scholarship Recipient.
I hope to continue having fun this year in rodeo and I wish all of you good luck this year!
Meet our 2014-2015 SCJHD Princess
I am Riley Sutherland, 13 year old daughter of John & Lydia Sutherland of Starr, SC. I am a rising 8th grader at Starr-Iva Middle School. This will be my second year competing in the SCJHD and it's a complete honor to be the SCJHD Rodeo Princess. During my first year, I competed in barrel racing and pole bending with my horses Karizma and Sox. This year I am planning on adding breakaway roping and goat tying to my rodeo events. I love to compete in rodeos, horse fun shows, barrel races, going camping and swimming. My career goal is to become a veterinarian for large animals and to train horses. I have met some awesome new friends my first year in the SCJHD who share that same love and passion for horses and I hope to meet many more this year, I hope to inspire people as many have inspired me. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
